When it comes to rules and consequences in your household, how would you describe your approach?

Rules change depending on my mood and what's happening that day. I have rules, but I don't always enforce them the same way with both kids. I have clear rules and mostly stick to them, though I sometimes make exceptions. I have clear, consistent rules that I enforce the same way every time, no matter what.

How much of your child's free time is typically filled with scheduled activities versus unstructured downtime?

Almost every day has soccer, music, tutoring, or some other activity scheduled. Most days have at least one activity; downtime is rare. My child has a few activities per week with some free time in between. I'm intentional about limiting activities and protecting plenty of unstructured play time.

When your child wants to talk to you about something important, what typically happens?

I'm usually on my phone or thinking about other things; I half-listen while multitasking. I listen, but I'm often quick to jump in with advice or try to fix the problem immediately. I put my phone away and listen, though sometimes I'm distracted by other thoughts. I give my full attention, make eye contact, and try to understand their perspective before responding.

How do you currently manage your own well-being and self-care as a parent?

I rarely prioritize self-care; parenting comes first, always. I try to take care of myself but often feel guilty and end up sacrificing it for parenting duties. I get some sleep and exercise, but I could be more consistent about self-care. I prioritize sleep, exercise, friendships, and emotional support—I know I'm a better parent when I'm well.
