How prepared do you feel for the academic workload increase from high school to university?

I haven't thought much about it—I'm assuming it's similar to high school. I know it increases, but I'm not sure exactly how much or how to manage it. I understand I'll need 3-4 hours of study per class hour and I'm developing a study plan. I've researched the workload, created time management systems, and I'm ready to adapt.

Which support services do you plan to use during your first year?

I'll manage on my own—I don't think I'll need support services. I know they exist, but I'll only use them if I start struggling. I plan to use writing centres and tutoring proactively, plus mental health support if needed. I've identified specific services (academic, career, wellness, accessibility) and will engage from day one.

How do you envision your involvement in campus life and extracurricular activities?

I'll focus only on classes—extracurriculars seem like a distraction. I might join a club or two, but I'm not sure how to choose or how involved to get. I plan to join 2-3 clubs aligned with my interests and be reasonably active. I've researched specific clubs, understand the value of quality engagement, and have a strategic involvement plan.

What's your strategy for building relationships and navigating the social transition?

I'm not sure—I'll just see what happens when I get there. I know I should make friends, but I'm uncertain about managing homesickness or social anxiety. I plan to attend orientation, engage in residence life, and use campus events to build community. I have a clear plan: leverage residence life, attend orientation, build professor relationships, and know when to access mental health support.
